What animals are these microchips for?

Dogs, cats and birds. For birds, the bird must weigh at least 100 g to be big enough for the procedure — see the insertion guide.

What size are the chips?

About the size of a grain of rice — 1.5 mm in diameter, more than 33% smaller than some kennel club chips (the standard kennel club chip is 2.5 mm across). Each microchip syringe is individually packaged and sterile.

Are these chips approved for use in Canada?

Yes. All our microchips are pre-approved by the NCAC (National Companion Animal Coalition), and officially pre-approved for registration with the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) and many other clubs and registries. Each chip is an ISO 11784/11785 FDX-B transponder with a 15-digit number, compatible with all systems and readers.

How do I register a chip, and what does registration cost?

Registration through your kennel club is free for the life of the animal — when the animal is registered with the club, the chip number is added to the database. If you are not registering with a club, lifetime registration is also available through CANADACHIP for a one-time $10 fee. Our registration guide explains it step by step.

Who can implant the chip?

A veterinarian, an experienced breeder, or another trained person. Many breeders and owners implant the chip themselves using our step-by-step insertion guide — and if you are unsure, please consult a veterinarian.

How much is shipping, and how long does delivery take?

Shipping is free anywhere in Canada — taxes included, if applicable. Please allow 3 to 14 days for delivery.

Do you ship outside Canada?

No — we ship within Canada only.

What if my order arrives damaged, or a chip doesn’t scan?

Items damaged on arrival will be replaced free of charge, shipping included, if reported within 10 days of shipping. If something goes wrong with an order, our responsibility is limited to replacing the product or refunding the purchase price of that order. Unopened kits can be returned within 30 days of delivery — see the returns guide for the details.
